Shopping a refillery is new for so many people, so for today’s Motherlovin’ Holiday theme it’s all about our refillery bar! So, what’s a refillery you ask? That’s a great motherlovin’ question! A refillery is a shopping experience that allows you to fill and refill your favorite products, reducing your single-use packaging waste. You can bring in your container, select your product, and buy as much or as little as you need! Everything is priced by weight (ounce). So, instead of buying products from a store in a new plastic bottle every time, you can fill and refill over and over again. We’ve seen people repurpose salsa jars, ketchup containers and candle vessels. YAY! Sustainability has never been so fun!
What happens if I don’t have a container or I forget mine at home?
Another great motherlovin’ question! You can bring your own vessel OR shop from our Bottle Bar. We offer all types of glass and aluminum containers. Today, Friday, December 3, all bottles are 50% off in-store to celebrate.
What products do you have on your refill bar?
We have full refilleries available inside each of our store locations, up to 75 products stocked at one time allowing you to fill up on everything from shampoo to laundry detergent. Our favorites include toilet cleaning tabs, honey and milk cleanser, rosewater toner and liquid hand soap. Find our entire refillery product list here.
Why should I care?!
Glad you asked, honestly! We are producing over 300 tons of plastic each year, and 50 percent of that plastic is single use. Americans discard 2.5 millions of bottles every hour, yes HOUR! And, it can take plastic up to 450 years to decompose. Sadly, plastic pollution is killing marine life, polluting beaches and poisoning human diets. Shopping at a refillery is just one small step we can take together to help mitigate this problem. Just remember, sustainability isn’t one size fits all! This is super important. Less waste is the goal, but the journey will look different for everyone. Do what you can, with the information and resources you have. So...maybe the next time you bring in your Tide jug to refill with laundry detergent, and the time after that you bring in that same jug plus your lotion bottle. Small steps make a huge difference.
Finally, another hot tip: wondering how you can repurpose the candle vessels you’re hoarding?! Our friends at Vellabox shared three ways to clean out your candle jars for reuse here.
